Chicago Public Schools are some of the leading urban school districts in the nation. There are over 480 elementary schools and more than 100 high schools in the Chicago Public School system as well as 20 charter schools. From pre-school to high school, there are over 425,000 students attending classes. The student to teacher ratio is about 23 to 1 in elementary schools and 21 to 1 in the high schools.
